This track is actually VERY old, and I've touched it up over the years. The initial composition is from 2004, and its one of the first tracks I composed in GarageBand when I first laid hands on it.
The concept was very loose at first, but later iterations built upon the idea of the original Asteroids "music", which was a two-tone piece that simply escalated in speed until an enemy ship appeared and attacked the player.
While I didn't mimic the speed aspect, I liked the idea of it building up with just two tones and built the track from there.
